Jason Riddle

In 1990, this Carl Junction, Mo. native became the first All-America honoree for Missouri Southern men’s cross country, when he finished 12th at the NCAA Division II Championships. Riddle would make a return trip to the NCAA-II cross country meet in 1992, when he finished eighth overall.

 

Riddle was a three-time All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association runner in cross country, winning the conference title in 1991 and finishing as league runner-up in 1992. He placed third in the Great Lakes Regional twice, in both 1990 and ‘92.

 

On the track, Riddle was strong in the 1500- and 5000-meter events. He was an eight-time All-MIAA runner, including four times in the 5000 and three more in the 1500. Riddle finished sixth nationally in the 1500 meters during the 1992 outdoor season, earning his only track & field All-America honor. He also qualified for the national championships during the 1994 outdoor season. Riddle was the 1992 indoor MIAA champion in the 5000 and the 1991 outdoor champion in the 1500.

 

Riddle still holds MSSU indoor and outdoor records in the 1500 meters. He was the school’s 1993 E.O. & Virginia Humphrey Award winner.

 

A 1995 MSSU graduate in kinesiology, Riddle and his wife, Shelly, have two children, Ryan and Kaitlyn.
